Responsibilities

Summary of Job Profile:

The DLP Specialist plays a critical role in safeguarding sensitive data by implementing and monitoring data loss prevention solutions, analyzing data movements, and ensuring compliance across endpoints, networks, and cloud environments. This position collaborates with security, IT, and compliance teams to mitigate data leakage risks and respond to incidents effectively.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implement, configure, and manage DLP solutions (e.g., Symantec DLP, Forcepoint, McAfee DLP).
  • Monitor and analyze alerts for potential data exfiltration or policy violations.
  • Develop and enforce DLP policies and workflows aligned with business and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and assist in remediation strategies for data security incidents. 
  • Collaborate with IT, Security, and Business teams to classify and protect sensitive data.
  • Maintain DLP dashboards, reports, and documentation for audit purposes.
  • Participate in incident response and investigation of data breach attempts.
  • Keep up-to-date with emerging threats, security best practices, and regulatory changes

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA’s) required to successfully perform the job:

  • Strong knowledge of DLP concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise DLP tools (Symantec, McAfee, Forcepoint, etc.)
  • Understanding of data classification, encryption, and data security controls.
  • Ability to analyze security events and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, networks, cloud environments, and endpoint security 

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification required for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, IT, or related field.
  • 5-6 years of experience in IT security or DLP-specific roles.
  • Experience implementing DLP solutions across enterprise environments.
